Annual Property Damage Figures  Fire and lightning.........$7.68 billion Wind and hail...............$4.42 billion Water/Freezing Damage..$4.96 billion Theft..........................$1.10 billion   Approximately 3 million burglaries occur in the United States annually.   The FBI estimates that one in six homes will be burglarized this year.   Every 18 seconds, firefighters respond to a fire somewhere in America. These fires cause over $6 billion in direct property damage yearly.   State Farm Insurance states: “The threat of loss from fire, theft or other causes is always present. An accurate inventory and proof of ownership at the same time of a loss can make claim settlement easier and faster.”   The National Crime Prevention Council (NPCC) states “Make a list of your valuables - DVD Players, VCRs, stereos, computers and jewelry etc... Take photos of the items, list their serial numbers and description.”
